Life University
The Customer
A Marietta, Georgia-based undergraduate school and Chiropractic college with an 8-building campus and more than 450 centrex analog lines connected to a bunch of aging Comdial phone switches. Customer was spending more than $20,000.00 per month on phone and Internet services that were grossly oversubscribed.
The Project
Redesign the University's telecommunications services to increase capacity while reducing costs. Design and implement a campus-wide, fiber-connected VoIP network the University's telecommunications requirements. Completely replace the aging Comdial infrastructure.
The Solution
Shelton | Johns designed a core network that used Cisco in the switching and routing core, AT&T Metro Ethernet service for transport to carrier services and an Asterisk VoIP switch for all handset telecommunications. The system supports more than 500 users from a single VoIP network and provides substantially expanded voice and Internet services from a carrier hotel in downtown Atlanta.
